Summer 2012: A second chance
Between about 2009 and 2011 I wore kilts everyday except on mandatory hit and tie days (sometimes that's what's called for). What I didn't do was chronicle the experience.
This time I am not wearing kilts exclusively, but I am intending to document the experience.
Today I got up and put on a stylish pair of skinny jeans. Then I sat down to write. My god, I was bound and gagged. I knew I'd be writing for about eight hours: Utilikilt to the rescue.
Sitting for a day of research is much more comfortable in a kilt. Why do men wear clothes not built for their body? Codes have power, and the power to make "knowledge" (e.g., men wear pants) is the interesting power.

Nice mens kilts he is wearing! Thanks a lot for sharing!
ReplyDeleteI see you haven't updated this in sometime so I'm not sure if you will see this, but I wanted to let you know that this is one of the most interesting blogs I've come across and I'm sad I never read over it while I had you as a professor! I see a lot of my own ideas reflected here but seeing as how my fiances' biggest fashion conundrum is "which t-shirt should I wear today?" it's really interesting seeing it from not only a man's point of view, but a man in the work place. I also love the idea of fashion being discussed on a level beyond "I just like it because I do". I hope you have the time and inclination to continue this blog because I would definitely like to read more.
